Comedy Central have announced a reboot of TV’s satirical delinquents ‘Beavis and Butthead’ as reported by TVLine.
The two slackers attained cult-like status during their initial MTV run from 1993 – 1997. The show is based on the day-to-day teenage adventures of delinquents Beavis and Butthead who lack basic social skills and find humour in almost everything around them. It’s mental and brilliant.
Mike Judge, the series creator will reprise his role of writer and voice actor to both characters. Comedy Central have said the show will find the iconic duo “entering a whole new Gen Z world” as the pair tackle “meta themes relatable to both new and old fans — Gen X parents and their Gen Z kids.” The deal with Judge includes any potential spinoffs or new series that should arise.
Chris McCarthy, President of Entertainment and Youth Brands for ViacomCBS voiced his enthusiasm with his statement, “We are thrilled to be working with Mike Judge and the great team at 3 Arts again as we double down on Adult Animation at Comedy Central, Beavis and Butt-Head were a defining voice of a generation, and we can’t wait to watch as they navigate the treacherous waters of a world light-years from their own.”
Mike Judge aptly surmises, “It seemed like the time was right to get stupid again.”
Could not agree more Mr Judge.
Two Seasons have been ordered with a release date yet to be confirmed.
